Bittersweet.
As we were heading over to finish up at Bruce's house
this morning that is the word that came to mind.
We completed the porch and painted all the spindles and around the windows.
We were treated to pizza for lunch by Bruce.
He was so proud to thank us in this manner.
We bought him a hanging plant, a new sledgehammer,
fishing lures, a t-shirt for his grandson, new chairs for his new porch
and a wind chime with a hanging cross. We hit him a card and all signed it.
When we gave it to him he stood looking at it and then
confided he could not read. We read the card and our notes to him
and shook his hand (as he "doesn't do hugs").
Bruce taught us a lot about construction and about life.
Our work here is done and we are preparing for our journey home.
We will look forward to celebrating mass with our families to close out this trip.
Thank you all for your prayers and support.
I would especially like to thank the parent's of my teens for
entrusting your children to me and for raising such amazing kids.
They were a pleasure to work with and get to know.
