Usually when I travel with large groups we experience a "hump" day.
It is the day midweek that everyone moves a little slower, or arrives
a bit later or looks a little more tired. However,
on this trip there is NO SUCH day!
Our 3rd day of service found many groups adding final
touches to projects, taking BIG steps towards completing
the projects and embarking on new ones. Today
I found myself at a "tipping point". I knew coming to
Virginia was going to be my last journey
with Holy Cross as a Youth Minister and that my
journey at HCYM was coming to an end.
But today it all hit me at once.
I am missing my wife and kids...Timmy celebrates his 5th birthday
and I am not going to be there.
I am passing the baton on to Steve May as the new Youth Minister
for HCYM. All this is heavy on my heart as I love
my family and love my HCYM ministry.
Perhaps it is the nostalgia of being here in the presence of
God as we serve our brothers and sisters or maybe
it is reality that at any given moment we could
find ourselves in need. Whatever it is - I am thinking
of all my blessings.
As I reflected on the ASP 2013 journey I couldn't
help but think of Jim and Greg as the ROCK of our journey.
They have been instrumental in making this week a reality.
I thought of our leaders and how gifted that are and how
their presence here has impacted the lives of our teens.
And I thought most about the incredible teens we have
here with us. Words will not do justice to the gift that
our teens are to this world. Holy Cross is blessed in so many ways.
I wrapped up reflection thinking about the day.
We led the devotion with a little Zooming, then
got to the work sites, played with little Zoe, spoke to
Charlie and Curtis and much more.
As I wrapped up my reflection I thought to myself that
God is Good
all the time and that all the time
God is good!
We have a couple more days left and I know
they will be amazing.
God Bless you all!
