From Greg and Paula - Crew 2 |
Crew 2 has arrived in Jonesville, NC. Jacqui, Emily, Tim, James,
Phil, Paula and I just want to thank all of our families and friends
who have been so supportive of our journey.
Our trip started at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday and we got to
Roanoke, VA about 13 hours later. The folks at St. Andrews Church
were amazing hosts and offered a special blessing for us
at the 9:00 a.m. Mass we attended before pushing on to our
destination.
We pulled into the ASP Center at 3:30 p.m., got settled into
our bunk rooms (5 bunks to a room) and had dinner.
There is an adult group from Decatur, Alabama volunteering
here as well.
The natural mountainous beauty of the western most county
in Virginia is stunning, yet is hides a largely forgotten
people defined by poverty and despair.
We just learned about who we will be helping over the next week.
After reading the applications of those who asked for
assistance, we are reminded by God that to whom much is given,
much is expected in return.
He is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
Through service of others less fortunate than ourselves,
we cannot help but grow closer to Christ and find peace
of heart and mind.
Keep us in your prayers and we will check in tomorrow.
