Day 1 Crew 3

Good Evening Everyone,
Crew 3 (Kate Ferrara, Greg Connly, Nick Lombardi, Kiana Lozzi, Conner O'Reilly, Ian McLaughlin and Kale Rockey have arrived in Jonesville, Virginia! Our long two day drive came to an end today as we pulled into the ASP Center at 5:30 p.m. Mrs. Ferrara and I could not have asked for a better group of teenagers to lead. They are smart, respectful and kind. We all enjoyed listening to Mrs. Ferrara sing to just about anything we played and fried green beans and pickles for lunch today brought home the fact that we are a long way from Easton. We unpacked at the Center before Greg and Nick changed into their work clothes and headed out to Harlan, Kentucky to meet the family we will help this week. Lisa is in her 40s and had a 13 year old daughter named Haven. She has made the cheerleading team and will start the 8th grade on August 5, 2015 - the day after her 14th birthday. They live in a trailer about 40 minutes from where the Center.  Nick and I got the rundown on what needs to be done and there are a whole host of projects on the list. The drive to Harlan was absolutely beautiful, but the landscape was dotted with constant reminders of the terrible poverty that permeates this region of the country. It is late and we are going to hit the rack.  We just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of our families and friends who helped make this journey possible. We know that the most important people in our lives are back home thinking about us and we ask that you continue to keep us in your prayers as we prepare for this week of service to a family that is truly in need.
